Diana Farrell joined US President Obama’s administration as deputy director of the National Economic Council and deputy economic adviser to the president. Prior to her appointment, she was director of the McKinsey Global Institute, McKinsey’s economics research arm.

Many policy makers and business executives continue to assume that it’s just a matter of time until we go back to where we were before the crisis began. They are probably mistaken.

@Nicolas: You make a fair argument stating that the SDR is not to replace the U.S. dollar as a vehicle currency. Instead it should remain in the realm of official institutions (read Central Banks, IMF, etc. But, I doubt that the Central Banks ar...—Walter
